Over the course of the workshop, the participants develop their own unique and exciting cultures and humanoid races. Using the real world as a reference, they design their cultures' values, politics, economies, and religions. The young people also explore how these aspects shape the family life, artwork, and other traditions of people living in those cultures.

Darrell Hardy is a writer and game designer specializing in world-building and narrative design. He has designed board games, trading card games, tabletop roleplaying games, and tactical battle games. His adventuresome stories and settings have added depth and flavor to games played both online and on the tabletop. Those include My Little Pony, Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, and Runebound.
Daniel Rirdan is a licensed teacher and the founder and head of Threshold School. He is also a member of the Innovation & Creativity Committee for the Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented (CAGT). Earlier, he was the creative director of Virtual Kids World by Compedia.
